We understand that not everyone will be eligible to apply for our funding, and that our grant programme closures may impact your options when it comes to applying for funding.

Fundraising guidance

GOV.UK has a guide to setting up and finding funding for a new charity, published by The Charity Commission.

NCVO offers practical tips and guides on fundraising

360Giving has a free blog which includes links to resources to help fundraisers find funding.

 

Funding databases

Funds Online is a subscription-based funding database with more than 8,000 funders, by the Directory of Social Change.

My Funding Central is a database dedicated to social investment and grant funding opportunities. Organisations with an annual income below £1 million can apply. Organisations with an annual income of under £30,000 per year can sign up free of charge.

GrantNav is a free platform that allows you to access and explore funder information from UK grant makers. Search by multiple criteria such as funder, recipient and location or add keywords for thousands of grants.

Charity Excellence Framework is a database of resources including a funding finder tool. You can register for their health check assessment, too. The Charity Excellence website also has a list of funders you can browse.

 

Publications

The Directory of Social Change is a directory where you can purchase publications on UK grant making, including the Directory of Grant-Making Trusts, and sign up for fundraising training programmes.

 

For social enterprises

The School for Social Entrepreneurs has a useful guide and list of funders that support social enterprises on their website.

Social Enterprise UK has a useful guide and list of funders, programmes and guidance on unlocking social investment on their blog. It also includes guidance on successful bid writing.

 

Social Investment

Good Finance is a website that helps non profit organisations understand social investment. They have a social investor directory and a tool that helps you assess whether social investment is right for your organisation.
